Information for the Potential Meadowlands NASCAR Track
July 17th, 2007
Name: Meadowlands
Organization: NASCAR
Cost: Unknown
Schedule: Early stages - the project has already faced considerable opposition. Additionally the plan has been proposed, discussed and rejected numerous times before.
About the Project: Plans call for constructing a 1.25-mile oval speedway to be constructed in a concentric ring around The Meadowlands Racetrack, the facility’s horse racing facility
Location: 50 State Route 120
Rutherford, NJ.
News: Executives for International Speedway Corp held informal preliminary discussions with New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority regarding the possibility of building the raceway in mid-June 2007. NASCAR also would need the approval of the Giants and Jets, who are building their new stadium nearby, in order to move forward with the project.

New Sport: NASCAR
June 5th, 2007
A mere six days after unveiling the MLS stadiums, we are ready to unleash the NASCAR tracks upon all of you. Otherwise known as the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, NASCAR is the largest sanctioning body of motorsports in the United States. The three largest racing series sanctioned by NASCAR are the NEXTEL Cup, the Busch Series and the Craftsman Truck Series. NASCAR has grown to become the second most popular professional sport in terms of television ratings inside the U.S., ranking behind only the NFL.
Not being a big fan of NASCAR, I had no idea that Indianapolis Speedway maintained its own golf course comprised of 14 holes outside the track and 4 more on the infield. See for yourself here. The series of (parking?) roads surrounding Texas Speedway also look pretty cool. Stay tuned for more updates in the near future!
